Within carpentry, cabinet-making has always enjoyed a great recognition in Malaga. The first industrial revolution originated in numerous European cities, amongst which was Malaga, the might of new social classes, who would mark their social ascent by ornamenting their houses with furniture and other complements of the home. In this sense, the industrial and commercial Malaga of the beginning of the 20th century, counted on the sound principles of the cabinet-makers of the first order who have transmitted their art and talent to the present time. In this section the processing and restoration of furniture includes also the art of making musical instruments and other diverse objects d’ art made in wood. Also, the upholstery of furniture is gathered in this section as one of the most frequent manifestations of this art. In Malaga a great number of workshops exist with craftsmen dedicated to the upholstery not only of chairs, armchairs or sofas, but also of lines of classic furniture in particular designs.
